Faces of Aura – Kathryn

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your family?

Hi! I’m Kathryn (on the left) and I’m 23 years old. I have a science degree and currently work as a receptionist and private tutor, and volunteer with an on campus Christian group at USC. I live with my parents and my sister Vanessa (along with our two cats and dog!) and have an older brother who is married.

What do you enjoy doing for recreation?

I enjoy playing music (flute and piano) in my free time as well as cooking, reading, and spending time outdoors with friends. When I have the energy I love to get out for a run with my sister as well!

How has Jesus changed your life?

In every way! Realising that life is all about him and that my identity is secure in him (not success, money, health or anything else!) has given me the strength to endure hardships and ability to really appreciate the fun times. Because of Jesus and his resurrection I have a joyous purpose in life and have a sure hope for the future!

What’s your favourite Bible verse? Why?

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God (Ephesians 2:8)

I love this verse because it reminds me that my acceptance by God is not based on anything I do, rather it is entirely reliant on Jesus’ death and resurrection.

What excites you most about helping launch Aura Church?

I’m really excited to help reach a community with the good news of Jesus where there is currently no church. It will also be encouraging to help launch the church for the sake of Christians living in Aura. To be part of a growing team pulling together resources and skills for the furtherment of God’s kingdom is such a privilege.
